Object description
The sculpture shows the figure of the Evangelist seated with a book in his left hand. The saint's body is covered by a tunic, leaving only his hands and feet exposed. The garment is completely covered with dynamic lines of folds. Geometry is evident in modelling the drapery on planes of different shapes and sizes, broken by sharp ribbed protrusions, which envelop the sculpture, creating the impression of a separate element of the sculpture. The spectacular pose of the Evangelist and the dynamic folds of his garments reveal the expression of Baroque plasticity. Due to significant losses (the head and the right hand are missing), it is difficult to imagine the original complete image of the sculpture.
