The cross is one of the most important symbols and amulets in the life of Christians. The most common type of cross is the hand cross. It is an eight-pointed cross with an elongated central and sloping lower crosspiece. The composition is simple and laconic. On the front, on a slit Greek cross, there is a picturesque crucifixion, where the artist has used a traditional compositional solution. The image occupies the central frame and part of the central bar. It is executed by imitating Byzantine iconography, where the Saviour is nailed to the cross with four nails. His legs are parallel, his arms are outstretched, his head is inclined towards his right shoulder, and his palms are open. The artist is conveying the anatomical features of the human body. Above Christ's head is a plaque with the letters "INRI". On the upper frame is an inscription: "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews". Below the crucifixion is the inscription: "NIKA", and at the lower end of the central staff, there is a graphic representation of a six-winged seraph and the inscription: "Ferdinand Schie in Lviv".
