Object description
The sculptural image of the angel's head is characterised by delicate detailing and rich polychromy. The work is distinguished by a combination of realistic features and stylisation. The expression on the textured face of the cherub is focused, with a palpable spiritual uplift, and the polychromy lends the image greater expressiveness and a lifelike quality. The master strives to recreate not only external beauty, but also to convey the inner world – the image has a slightly idealised appearance, emphasising its belonging to the sacred world. The master paid special attention to the smoothness of the contours and proportions, thanks to which the image is lively and expressive. The volume of the angel's head silhouette is conveyed softly, without sharp contrasts, creating a feeling of plastic tenderness. The slightly raised head with an inner expression on the face reflects spiritual concentration.
