Object description
The seven-pointed cross with an oblique lower crosspiece and an ornamented handle has a simple frame. A laconic and simple plastic composition characterises the handmade three-framed cross from the village of Krukenychi. The image is concentrated in the central part. The frames are outlined by a carved, continuous, smooth line along the contour, which protrudes above the background. On the front side of the central core of the seven-pointed cross is a schematic figure of Christ. His arms are spread out on the middle bar, and his palms are open, facing the viewer. The master carved Jesus with his head tilted to his right shoulder. Above it is a traditional plaque with the letters "INRI". The background on which the Crucifixion is placed is primitive, "punctured", created with a nail or punch.
