The iconography of the hermit Onuphrius has evolved from single-figure compositions to scenes depicting his life. Images of the saint are primarily found in iconography, engraving, and sculpture. The figure of Saint Onuphrius is carved from a single piece of wood. The ascetic hermit elder, full of confidence and extraordinary willpower, kneels with his hands folded in prayer. The man's face is well-modelled, with large expressive eyes that radiate calmness and conviction in his beliefs. The main attention is paid to the long beard and hair, considered the main features of the image of Saint Onuphrius – they fall down in light and flowing vertical waves, covering his naked body. A decorative accent in the sculpture is a loincloth made of oak leaves, neatly laid out in an ornament. It is evident that a craftsman with carving experience and knowledge of human anatomy created the sculpture of Saint Onuphrius.
