Object description
The sculpture of Mary Magdalene is presented in an S-shaped silhouette (figura serpentinata), which was common in Baroque plastics. The saint's head is turned to the left shoulder and slightly raised. Her hands, turned to the right, hold the fabric tightly. Her face expresses sadness and sorrow, the emotionality of which is enhanced by polychrome. The image of Mary Magdalene is notable for its static pose and restrained drapery pattern on her clothes, which are laid out in horizontal stripes without excessive intersections.
