Object description
The allegorical figure of a woman is reproduced in an S-shaped silhouette and a graceful theatrical pose. The humility of gestures and facial expressions distinguishes the elongated full-length figure. On the woman's head is a small exquisite diadem from under which wavy strands of hair, carved with shallow incised lines, fall on her shoulders. The sculptor focused on the reproduction of the woman's face and characterised it with somewhat idealised features without specifics. An elongated oval face with plump cheeks, a pointed chin, bulging eyes, and closed lips convey the image of a thoughtful person. The master modelled the face, trying to reproduce a person's facial expression detached from the real world. The saintly woman is depicted in a long dress with a corset, wrapped with a waistband, that outlines the body's curves. Dynamic drapery folds add expression to the image; they fall from the shoulders and wrap the female figure in the lower part. Her draperies form a modest pattern, modelled by straight lines with clear ribbed endings. Intersecting, they form abstract planes curved at different angles, which are not always bound to the figure and its movements. A rather modest pattern of vertical lines can be seen on a saintly woman's dress.
