Without a clearly defined iconographic image of an angel in plastic, folk artists embodied their vision in their works, often depicting people from their surroundings. A collection of sculptures of angels from the Church of the Introduction to the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Murovane village) is housed in the funds of Borys Voznytskyi Lviv National Art Gallery. They are united by common features of image modelling and reproduction of plasticity. All figures are carved from a solid piece of wood on the volutes. One of the angels is reproduced sitting on his knees; his head is slightly bowed to the right, and his left hand is pressed to his chest. A soft line wraps the contour of the angel’s figure, giving integrity to the image. An elongated oval face with a sharp chin is characterised by symmetry and a clear pattern. The large almond-shaped eyes under straight lines of eyebrows on a high forehead accentuate the face. His hair is reproduced in a unique manner, slowly falling in cylindrical strands to the back of the head.
