Object description
The sculpture of the saint holding a skull in her right hand comes from the village of Lanovychi and is carved in the Baroque style. The figure of a woman in a contrapposto pose with her left leg free, her head expressively tilted back, and her curved silhouette is characterised by a slowed movement. The woman is dressed in a long, light-coloured tunic, and her head is covered by a maphorion draped over her shoulders. The Baroque style is reflected in the modelling of the saint's clothing. The garment is modelled with straight vertical strands that fall freely. The drapery pattern on the garment is somewhat slowed down and created without excessive folds and intersecting lines. There is emotional tension in the facial expression. The head is thrown back and tilted towards the right shoulder, emphasising the drama of the saint's image. Full of melancholic thoughtfulness, her face is shown with a high forehead, small rolled eyes under the clear arcs of the eyebrows, and a slightly open mouth. The lines of the saint's silhouette, her gestures, and the rhythm of the folds of her garments are rendered with a certain restraint and moderation.
