Object description
On the right is a shoreline with the Arc de Triomphe, overgrown with green bushes. Above the arch is the coat of arms of the French Kingdom after the French Wars of Religion. It combines two images – three royal lilies on a blue background and an oblique cross of golden chains on a red background. They are from the time when the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Navarre re-emerged in the French Modern period (1376–1589). This indicates the personal union of the two kingdoms as a result of Henry IV's accession to the throne. On either side of the arch are two columns with sculptures between them. Behind the arch is the continuation of the walls with the sea tower. In the foreground, a group of figures is portrayed on stone steps leading to the water. On the left, in the sea waves, two boats are depicted. One has already docked and is unloading goods, while the other is approaching, full of people. In the background, ships with open sails and flags (including the Dutch flag on one of them) are shown. The scene unfolds against the backdrop of coastal hills and a cloudy sky.
