Object description
The saint's figure is shown as a full-length frontal sculpture. The master attempted to recreate a contrapposto pose in the work, which indicates the tendencies characteristic of Western Baroque art. However, the silhouette of the young slender woman is depicted in a Renaissance-like manner: the sharply carved folds of her clothes fit her body without deep hollows. The smoothness of the drapery is broken by the horizontal line of the belt on the saint's body. The work focuses on the peculiar face, framed by thick curls of hair parted in the middle and styled in a neat hairstyle. Polychromy creates a realistic perception of a pretty oval face with a high forehead, raised eyebrows, and barely covered almond-shaped eyes, which give the image a dreamy and lyrical mood.
