Object description
Adam Sierakowski – the captain from Boguslawice. A clear figure of a young man wearing knight's armour and a red drapery over his left shoulder stands against the dark background. The artist skillfully captures Adam's figure. The portrait is in the Baroque style. The inscription on the reverse of the work reads: «Adamus Boguslavice / Sierakowski capitaneus / Nossoviensis». T. Sabodash dated the painting back to the end of the 17th century and wrote that it could be painted by French painter Pierre Mignard (1612–1695). Her attribution is based on a similar portrait of an unidentified man in armour belonging to the artist. It is held in the Odessa Museum of Western and Eastern Art. The depicted men are in the same poses and look very similar.
