Object description
The iconographic type of the Savior is variform. The image of Man of Sorrows, who was close to ordinary people, is one of the most common. The figure of Christ is represented in a Crown of Thorns; the expression of pain and suffering is reflected on his face. The artist skillfully depicted the sufferings of Christ, pointing to the spear wound and the expression of humility on his face. The Gothic sculpture is characterized by a realistic and expressive style. The masters paid more attention to the exalted expression of the face, the individuality of the depicted personality, as well as his or her emotional struggle.
