Author: Mykola Kasperovych
Artist's lifetime: 1885–1938
Biography: Mykola Kasperovych (1885–1938) – painter, restorer, pupil and follower of Mykhailo Boychuk. He received his primary education in Moscow and then studied at the Krakow Academy of Art (1905–1909) under the tutelage of J. Pankiewicz. Later he studied in Paris at the Studio School of M. Boychuk (1909–1910). Travelled around Italy with M. Boychuk. In 1911. He returned to Lviv, where he worked in the restoration workshops of the National Museum. From the end of 1911, he worked in Kyiv and Chernihiv as an artist-restorer. He taught at the Myrhorod Art and Ceramic College. From 1921 he was a Professor at the Ukrainian National Academy of Art. From 1927 to 1930, he headed the restoration workshop at the National Cultural and History Reserve "All-Ukrainian Museum Town" in Kyiv. Mykola Kasperovych was imprisoned and shot in 1938.

Object description

A sketch depicting a guy kneeling and building a stylised temple. To the bottom, left and right, the composition is decorated with floral ornaments. The entire image is composed within a pentagon (a cross-section of the house). At the top right and left are cherubs.

Inscriptions

On the reverse side there is an inscription: "Maybe/Kasperovych/?"
