Object description
The sculpture of the archangel is static, presented in contrapposto pose with its left leg outstretched and a fragment of the surviving right wing behind it. His head is tilted back, leaning towards his right shoulder. The face has sunken cheeks, expressive cheekbones, a sharp chin, and tightly closed lips. The purposeful gaze is directed upwards. The static image is broken by strands of dark hair. The archangel is dressed in a long golden tunic tied at the waist. The sculpture is characterised by a generalised pattern of draperies and soft modelling of the garments.
