Biography
Vasyl Stetsenko (December 27, 1901, Kozatske village, Cherkasy region – December 9, 1971, Kyiv) was a Ukrainian soviet graphic artist and member of the Union of soviet Artists of Ukraine. Between 1926 and 1930, he studied at the printing faculty of the Kyiv Art Institute from O. Usachov, V. Kasiian, I. Pleshchynskyi, and S. Nalepinska-Boichuk. He worked in the field of posters and bookplates, book and industrial graphic art, mainly in the xylography technique. Among his works are the series of etchings "The Dnipro River", "Crossing the Danube River", and the woodcut "Monument to Shevchenko in Kyiv". He designed selected works by M. Rylskyi, P. Tychyna, and L. Ukrainka. He participated in republican and foreign exhibitions.
