Object description
The sculptural image shows a full-length figure of a sitting angel. The master created the work following the traditions of Baroque plastics. The child's figure is rendered anatomically accurate – it is plump, with numerous folds on the arms, legs and abdomen. The naked body is covered by a drapery thrown over the right leg. It is modelled with shallow folds with smooth ribbed protrusions. The angel has an elongated oval face, plump cheeks, expressive eyes covered by eyelids, and large lips with a finger pressed to them. Tiny open wings and wavy strands of hair framing the head add dynamism to the sculpture.
