Object description
A four-pointed Latin cross. On the front, the master carver placed the Crucifixion in the central part using the flat carving technique. The Saviour's body and the figures' silhouettes at the frame's two ends are schematically depicted. The unfilled areas of the cross are marked with flat vertical lines, and above Christ's head is the title with an inscription. On the reverse side is a flat, elongated image of the Virgin Mary wearing a crown and holding the infant Jesus in her arms, iconographically based on Western European models. At the end of the upper frame is a square recess with a Greek cross outlined in the centre. A solid, smooth line frames all the ends of the cross.
