Object description
The work is a rectangular composition with a low horizon line; the right part features a full-length depiction of a black horse without a saddle. The young blond man in riding attire, consisting of a short white jacket, ochre breeches, and black boots, is holding the horse by the bridle. In his lowered right hand, the man is holding a riding crop. To the left of his back, a large green tree is depicted. In the lower-left corner is an illegible inscription; to the right, near the horse's hind legs, the word "Faith" is written in black paint on a rock. The work by an unknown artist is executed in the Biedermeier style, as evidenced by careful drawing, attention to small details, simplified modelling of the human figure, and the overall romantic and sentimental character of the composition.
