Object description
Atlas or Atlantis (Greek: Ἄτλας) is a mighty titan in Greek mythology who held the sky on his shoulders. He was the son of the titan Iapetus and Clymene, the brother of Prometheus, Epimetheus and Menestheus. According to mythology, Atlantis was doomed to hold the firmament on his shoulders forever as a punishment for supporting the Titans' fight against Zeus. According to another myth, the support of the sky was Perseus' revenge for being denied hospitality by the Titan. Atlantis is a symbol of endurance. It is associated with the theme of feasibility and overwhelm.
