The drawing shows a detailed reproduction of the monumental two-storey tomb of the Tarnowski family in the Cathedral Basilica of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tarnow, Poland. The tomb, in the style of a Greek church facade, for the crown hetman Jan Amor Tarnowski (1488–1561) and later his son Jan Krzysztof (1537–1567), was created between 1561 and 1574 by the Italian architect and sculptor Giovanni Maria Padovano (1493–1574). The red and white marble and alabaster tomb is characterised by rich iconography and is the tallest Renaissance tombstone in Poland (13.8 m). In the central rectangular niches are the figures of the deceased (the upper one is the father, and the lower one is the son) in a sleeping position. The side bas-reliefs are dedicated to scenes of battles in which the hetman took part. The monument is crowned by a complex attic with a sculpture of Christ. From 1890 to 1899, the Tarnow Cathedral was rebuilt in a neo-Gothic style, according to Julian Zachariewicz's project.
