Object description
The work is a rectangular composition with a low horizon line; the right part is occupied by a full-figure image of a bay horse without a saddle. The horse is being held by the bridle by a dark-haired young man dressed in riding attire – a short white jacket, ochre breeches, and black boots. In his lowered right hand, the man is holding a whip. To the left, behind his back, a sprawling green tree is depicted. The work by an unknown artist is executed in the Biedermeier style, as evidenced by careful drawing, attention to small details, simplified modelling of the human figure, and the overall romantic and sentimental character of the composition.
