Object description
An oval-shaped tsuba (nagamaru gata) with a wedge-shaped hole (nakago-ana) in the centre and two holes along it (hitsu-ana) for kozuka and kogai. The entire surface of the tsuba, except for the smooth oval part, has a relief depiction of a crane flying over the sea in which a turtle with a long tail is swimming. The reverse side of the tsuba is smooth on top and below is a relief drawing depicting sea waves and a stone with plants on the shore.
