The drawing is done in pencil. It depicts a man's head in profile. He has a slightly lowered, elongated face, his gaze directed at the viewer. He has a long nose, full lips, pronounced wrinkles from the edge of his nose down around his mouth, a high forehead with wrinkles, hair combed to the right, and small ears. We see a man with a sharp, piercing gaze, a slight grimace, or perhaps a hidden smile. The artist created a series of self-portraits in pencil and oil from 1937 onwards. Significantly more drawings appear with a break of several days in 1940–41, created mainly in Sniatyn.
