Biography
Maciej (Mateusz) Gaszyński (1805 – after 1868) was a Polish artist. He took part in the November Uprising. He subsequently lived in exile in France for a long time, mainly in Nancy, where, due to his difficult financial situation, he earned his living by teaching foreigners. From 1841, he lived in Poznań on the Kórnik estate, where he created a series of portraits, including those of the editor of “Dziennik Domowy”, N. Kamienski, S. Goszczynski, and, probably, Tytus Dziński. He later lived in Lviv. He painted landscapes and portraits.
