Biography
Stanislaw Wyspianski was born in 1869 in Krakow. He studied at the Jagiellonian University and Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He was a member of the Young Poland movement, and art editor of the weekly Życie (Life). Stanislaw Wyspianski is known as a playwright and poet, modernist painter, and designer. The artist died in November 1907. He was buried in Krakow.
Object description
This is a cityscape with a river. In the foreground, one can see a triple-arched stone bridge, on which there are five clearly identifiable human figures. Three characters are having a rest, dangling their legs from the bridge. A house with a large round wall clock is depicted in the background. Behind the houseб one can see the outlines of two Gothic spires of a Roman Catholic Church.

In the upper part of the work there is a creation place and date written in Polish.
