Biography
Stanislaw Wyspianski was born in 1869 in Krakow. He studied at the Jagiellonian University and Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He was a member of the Young Poland movement, and art editor of the weekly Życie (Life). Stanislaw Wyspianski is known as a playwright and poet, modernist painter, and designer. The artist died in November 1907. He was buried in Krakow.
Object description
This is a study of the teenage boy’s head with slightly messy hair. The head is turned three quarters to the left. The gaze is directed at the viewer. The defining facial features are long, straight eyebrows, wide open large eyes, and stiff lips.
Inscriptions
At the bottom there is an illegible diagonal inscription in Polish. Lower there is a date and an author monogram.
