Object description
Jerzy Aleksander Lubomirski (c. 1669–1735) was a statesman of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Polish prince (kniaz), mayor, and a voivode of Sandomierz Voivodeship. In 1730, he became a knight of the Order of the White Eagle. In 1735, he was a candidate for the Field Hetman of the Crown post. Jerzy Aleksander Lubomirski was the eldest son of Aleksander Michal Lubomirski, the elder of Pereiaslav, and Katarzyna Anna Sapieha, the daughter of Pawel Jan Sapieha. The painting shows a waist-length image of a man with a proud posture. He is dressed in knightly armour, with a red cape lined with white fur. On the cape is an insignia, the Star of the Order of the White Eagle. The man's face with a high forehead, focused look, and small moustache is framed by a fashionable silver wig.
