Object description
In the painting, against a dark background, an elderly man with a grey beard is depicted. He is turned three-quarters to the left with a slight tilt of his head downwards. The man's face, expressing deep contemplation, is heavily shaded around the eyes and mouth. His right hand is visible from under his cloak, holding a rolled-up parchment. The painting was received into the Gallery collection from the collection of Leon Pininski as a work by an unknown 18th-century artist.
