In the complex composition of the painting, the artist successfully emphasised the vitality of the figures in the classical "Holy Family" theme. On this canvas, the figures almost fill the entire painting surface. The infant's head is in the composition's centre, and the artist presents its body in a complex turn. The author combines the three figures of the Virgin Mary, Christ, and Joseph into a casual but inextricably connected group. They gaze attentively at the viewer with barely visible smiles on their faces. In the background, behind the central figures, is the figure of an older woman in profile with her head covered. The author does not show her face. Perhaps she represents Saint Anne. The painting's background is divided into two parts. In the upper right corner is an image of a tent in shades that resemble the Virgin Mary's clothing, which balances the composition of the canvas in a certain way. In the upper left corner is a depiction of a cloudy dark sky, possibly symbolising the hard fate of Christ.
