Object description
Adhering to the correct anatomical proportions, the author skilfully carved a full-length figure of an angel on a console, with tiny wings behind his back and arms outstretched to the right. His childish body with rounded shapes, slightly curved in an arc, is outlined by a soft contour line. Modelled by plastic planes, the angel's nude body is covered by a drapery that envelops part of the thigh of his right leg. A low forehead, wide-open eyes, a snub nose, distinct small lips, a defined chin, plump cheeks and a rounded oval face line characterise the image created by the master. The angel's head is wrapped in expressive massive curls, which appear to be fluttering with movement. The expression of alienation and surprise is frozen on the angel's face. The sculptural composition is reproduced in a restrainedly dynamic pose.
