Object description
The work is a full-length sculptural image of a young saint with a slender, restrained silhouette. The woman's clothes cover her entire body, leaving only her feet and part of her arms exposed. The figure is slightly bent in a serpentine line, characteristic of the Baroque period, and the modelling of the garment folds resembles a whirlpool around the protruding right knee. The attention is focused on the peculiar face framed by thick curls of hair parted in the middle, which falls in rough waves on the shoulders. Polychromy creates a realistic impression of a pretty oval face with a high forehead, raised eyebrows, and barely covered almond-shaped eyes.
