Johann Wilhelm Baur depicted an imaginary battle of Italian soldiers on this graphic sheet. In the foreground is a group of soldiers fighting in dynamic poses. One of the infantrymen, dressed in a tabarro cloak, grabs a horse by the bridle and tries to rapier the enemy rider. The rider raises his musket to strike back. A musketeer stands next to them on the left, aiming his weapon at an enemy soldier. Three infantrymen are fighting ferociously on the right. In the foreground are weapons scattered over the ground and killed soldiers and horses. The engraving is part of "Battaglie di varie nazione" ("The Battles of Various Nations") series, which consisted of 13 sheets and was published in 1637.
