A sketch from the series of murals for a public space aimed to portray a comprehensive history of architecture from ancient times to the present. One of the distinctive features of this sketch is the formation of a particular spacetime in which symbolic representations of architectural images and their creators from the times of Kyivan Rus to the practices of classicism, including, most likely, Vasyl Bazhenov, coexist simultaneously. Additionally, the idea of the heredity of traditions is complemented by the concept of the inseparability of folk architectural customs and, for example, sacred wooden constructions (symbolic figures and elements of buildings in the right part of the composition), as well as the forms and images characteristic of the global, mainly European architecture tradition (the left part of the composition with the image of an 18th-century architect constructing new objects, drawing inspiration from classical historical styles). The hierarchical approach to presenting the figures contributes to the visual expressiveness of the story of how ideas take shape and imaginary constructions become real objects. The contrasting of static and dynamic fragments contribute to the active interaction with the viewer, which is emphasised by colours (accents of yellow cadmium and red) and tones (contrasting ratios of dark and light). This approach might be inspired by avant-garde methods, which in this case are somewhat cinematic.
