Object description
Zygmunt Linowski – a jaeger headman. The portrait features a half-length image of a man portrayed in a representative pose, three-quarters reversed to the left. The portrait follows depicting the noblemen's appearances, which was liked by the bourgeoisie. The work is characterised by the solemn posture of the figure, the demonstrative placement of the hands and the coat of arms in the corner. The frozen expression of the face, the solemnity of the posture, the flat treatment of the image, and the vivid colours which are typical of the provincial school of painting can be sensed in the portrait by Zygmunt Linowski. A red kontusz on top of a white zupan is a vivid accent in the image. On the top left, there is the Pomian coat of arms with the letters: S-Ly, L-L, S-Z, K.
